French Toast Kebabs with Strawberry Syrup

French Toast Kebabs

What is it about french toast that just makes ones heart go pitter pater?

Is it the smell of bread soaked in milk and eggs with vanilla that just calls to our hearts?

Or maybe its the combination of cinnamon and sugar that does us in…

For me… its the moment I smell the fresh baked bread dipped in the cinnamon-sugar mixture that gets me everytime.

Mmmmmmm, just thinking of it makes my mouth start to water.

Try these little French Toast Kebabs and tell me if your heart starts to pitter patter like mine did 😉 Oh and don’t forget the strawberry syrup, now that’s a winner!

Enjoy!

Start off with combining the strawberries and maple syrup in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Bring to a boil, stirring continuously. Set aside.

Then chop up your day old baguette into 1-inch square pieces.

Whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, milk, vanilla, and salt.

Add the bread cubes and toss so that all sides are coated and egg mixture is soaked into the pieces of bread.

Now comes one of my favorite parts, combine the sugar and cinnamon and set aside.

Over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon butter and add half of coated bread cubes. Cook, until golden, turning on all sides.  When that batch is done remove from pan and continue with second batch until all bread cubes are cooked.

Here is my other favorite part… toss cooked bread cubes into the cinnamon-sugar mixture and make sure all pieces are coated.

Can you smell that mixture of cooked bread and cinnamon sugar…. is it pitter pattering yet?

Repeat with remaining bread cubes.

French Toast Kebabs

When all bread cubes are cooked and throrougly rolled in cinnamon-sugar mixture you can either have them skewered with fresh ripe strawberries and dusted with powdered sugar or you can have them all by them lonesome self.

Yea, I’d go with the strawberries 🙂

Enjoy!
