This is the perfect afternoon snack. You see the kids have gone back to school this week and I am always trying to have easy snacks for them to either grab on the go, take to school or have at home for them to nibble on between homework and dinner time. Banana bread is a family favorite in our house and I wanted to add another favorite of ours, well at least of my sons and mine… Nutella.
That’s right I not only add chocolate chips to this moist banana bread but I also swirl dollops of creamy Nutella through out. It is delish and great with a cup of coffee for the morning time… or if you’re like me to have at anytime. Just use your favorite banana bread recipe, and add 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and three heaping tablespoons of Nutella, swirl with a knife and bake.
Pretty easy right, what do you like to add to your favorite banana bread recipe? Tell me below 🙂
Look at the chocolate chips….
Add nice heaping dollops of Nutella. (If your are like me this is when you lick the spoon after of course. :-))
servings: makes 1 loaf, 12 slices
1 cup of granulated sugar 1 stick of unsalted butter, softened (room temperature)
1 large egg, room temperature
3 ripe bananas, mashed
2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
dash of salt
1/2 cup of milk
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
1/2 cup chocolate chips
3 tablespoons Nutella
Start by turning the oven on 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl beat 1 stick of unslated butter, softened and 1 cup of granulated sugar. Add 1 large egg. Mash three ripened bananas, then add them to the sugar and butter mixture.
Next, add 2 cups of all-purpose flour, the baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix all of these ingredients together.
Last, add the 1/2 cup of milk and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Fold in the chocolate chips. Butter and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan. Pour the mixture in the buttered pan and add three dollops of nutella. Swirl with a knife. Then place in the oven. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes. When the banana bread is done baking take out and set to cool before slicing.
See you next time!
