Seafood Chowder

Have you ever just wanted to re-create a recipe of a dish you had at a restaurant.  The other night I ate at Bahama Breeze Restaurant and tasted a friend of mines Seafood Chowder, that she ordered.  It was full of flavor and full of seafood.

It was quite delicious!  I started thinking to myself hmmmmmm….“I wonder if I could re-create this yummy chowder?”

I started dissecting the chowder right there at the dinner table… my friends started laughing at me.

That’s when I decided I was going to make a go at Seafood Chowder, it would have shrimp, scallops, and a whole bunch of other yummy stuff…. It was delicious by the way!

Enjoy!!! 🙂

The seafood that I chopped up for this delicious chowder was conch meat, shrimp, and scallops.

Place the oil in a pot and heat until very hot.  Add the conch meat and sear for 1 to 2 minutes, then the chopped garlic.

Add the chopped onions, celery, carrots, and potatoes; sauté for 5 minutes.

Add all the remaining ingredients (chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, thyme, and oregano), mix well.

Add all the clam juice and chicken broth, bring to a boil.  Simmer until the potatoes are tender.

Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve hot with croutons or crackers.  I topped it off with flour breaded shrimps and basil leaf.

Enjoy!

  1. […] is so curious to know if it would taste the same or better.  Take the last dish I re-created, the Seafood Chowder, I had ordered it at Bahama Breeze and knew I just had to try it at home.  I was so glad I did […]

I have only been able to go to Bahama Breeze once (being from Wisconsin) We did fall in love with their Bahamian seafood chowder. The recipe ingredients you gave is the same as the conch chowder recipe they have online. We did not try their conch chowder. Are the two the same but with additional seafood? None of the ingredients you list would give it that little bit of kick? Did your recreation somehow get changed?

Isn’t there some cream or milk added to make it creamy? I’ve had the chowder from Bahama Breeze many times and always wanted the recipe… I think I’ll give yours a try, thanks for sharing.

The chowder looks creamy. Did you add heavy cream or milk to it?

    Tara,

I actually did not use any cream or milk. It just looks that way 🙂

i made this exactly as directed and turned out supper watery. saved it but adding a cup of heavy cream and cornstarch to thicken and even then it was still kind of thin. then added bacon for extra flavor. other then that it flavor was pretty close to the resturants
